The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 On February 17, 2009 President Obama signed into law The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, providing us with the opportunity to transform healthcare in the United States. The law provides $19 billion in health information technology funding to ensure widespread adoption and use of interoperable healthcare IT systems. The incentives can total as much as $44,000 per physician over a 5 year period.
To qualify, the physician must demonstrate “meaningful use” of an EHR which includes" 1. Use of e-Prescribing, 2. Electronically exchange information, 3. Submit clinical quality measures PQRI. With our Internet based infrastructure being centralized, our ability to respond and update with new criteria is unparalleled when compared to legacy client/server based solutions allowing physicians to meet the requirements in a timely fashion. The includes the adoption of a government certified ehr system.
We are now certified as a complete EHR system as of February 2010 and customers who wish to qualify will have ample time to demonstrate meaningful use during the 3 months required use in 2012 in order to begin to qualify for maximum incentive payments over the life of the program.
Customers may also wish to claim the current e-prescribing bonus still in effect for 2012 and begin meaningful use in 2013.
